Liberty University Strength & Conditioning Internship Description for Olympic Sports

Liberty University Department of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports is seeking applicants who are highly motivated to fill full-time semester long internship positions. This is an unpaid position where school gear is offered with potential assistance in meals. Interns will also have the chance to earn additional assigned responsibilities based upon experience and education, along with initiative and desire to learn.

Academic credits can be applied towards an Exercise Science or related Undergraduate or Graduate program if necessary. The internship is also Mentor Approved for those preparing to complete the required hours for the SCCC certification. Current students of Liberty University looking to intern will need a pre-requisite of 250 shadowing hours with our Olympic Department before applying for the internship (this does not apply to Liberty student athletes).

With education through experience being our main goal, interns will be provided and challenged with the key qualities of success in the Strength and Conditioning field. This includes professional development and continuing education, daily opportunities to learn and grow as a leader, expansion of network connections, teaching student athletes’ proper lifting technique, and daily weight room maintenance. Along with assisting strength coaches with program design implementation, interns will also have the opportunity to work out of our 3 Olympic weight rooms on Liberty’s campus.

While working with Division I programs, interns will gain practical coaching experience in accordance with the philosophy of the department and can begin to lay the groundwork for future opportunities with a consideration for a recommendation for future employment.
