Yaun Earns 4th Selection to PING All-Region Team
For the fourth season in a row, Liberty’s Jonathan Yaun has been named to the PING All-Region team, capping off his career with the Flames.
Yaun was one of 25 golfers named to the 2023 PING All-Region East team, which was recently released by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). A total of 150 golfers were named to the six All-Region listings.
With his selection, Yaun becomes the first-ever four-time All-Region selection in program history. (2020-23). Prior to this season, Yaun was part of a four-player group that had been named to three All-Region teams – Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer Robert Karlsson (2010-12), Ervin Chang (2018-19, 21) and Kieran Vincent (2020-22).
Yaun had a banner season during his final year with the Flames. He led the team with a 70.95 season stroke average, which ranks third best in program history. He also finished the year ranked No. 53 in the country with 143 birdies.
The native of Minneola, Fla. finished first in two individual events. He claimed medalist honors at the Folds of Honor Collegiate during the fall, winning the title with a chip-in birdie during a playoff.
Yaun led the Flames to their second ASUN Conference championship with a record-setting performance at the conference championship event in April. Yaun claimed medalist honors with an 18-under par 198 (68-63-67), setting a new program standard for the lowest individual 54-hole total in school history.
Yaun posted four top-10 finishes in 13 team events during 2022-23 and helped the Flames advance to NCAA Regionals for the 11th time in the last 12 completed seasons.
Yaun finished his five seasons at Liberty with a 71.96 career stroke average, which ranks second best in program history. He played a program record 166 career rounds and holds the program standard with 144 counting scores.
Later this month, Yaun will begin his professional career on the PGA Tour Canada.
