Liberty head coach Lang Wedemeyer and the Lady Flames soccer team have announced the signing of Avenley Monteith and the transfer of Abigail King.

“We are excited to welcome both Abby and Avenley to the program,” said Wedemeyer. “They both bring some important needs to the team and represent so many of the elements we look for in student-athletes.”

Avenley Monteith | Midfielder | Matthews, N.C.

Monteith attended North Carolina Cyber Academy and played for the Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy for three years where she played under head coach Eli Pacheco. She was a starter for three years and served as team captain for two years. Monteith was named MVP her junior year.

Monteith also played with the Charlotte Soccer Academy for six years before playing last year with Charlotte Independence.

Abigail King | Goalkeeper | Reading, Pa.

King has been attending classes at Liberty since January after transferring from Letourneau University, making two appearances playing under head coach Steve Lord. King attended Twin Valley High School where she was a two-year starter and a three-year letter winner.

King also played for PA Classics and ACFC where her team came in second at the Beach Blast.
