Field of 68 Media Network is launching a new, innovative three-year round-robin series between three of the best mid-major programs in the nation: Liberty, FAU and Charleston.

The three-year Field of 68 Tip-Off event will begin at FAU this year then head to Charleston in 2024 and be contested at Liberty in 2025. This year’s games will be held from Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at FAU Arena in Boca Raton, Fla. Liberty and 2023 Final Four participant FAU will kick things off on Nov. 30. The Flames and Charleston Cougars will square off on Dec. 1. The event will conclude with a matchup between FAU and Charleston on Dec. 2.

The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster will be on site at FAU for the entire event, hosting pregame shows and the network’s popular After Dark show following the games.

“To have a chance to play quality games like this isn’t common for mid-major programs that hit a certain point,” said Liberty Men’s Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay. “Once you win at a certain level, the return calls from Power 5 teams can sometimes become fewer and fewer.”

McKay and the Flames have won 131 games over the past five seasons, fourth most in the country. Among Liberty’s other accomplishments in recent years include:
    • Three conference tournament titles in five years
    • Four conference regular season titles and one divisional title in the last five years
    • Seven straight 20-win seasons
    • 78-5 home record in last five years, including a 45-game home winning streak, 65-14 regular season mark during that time
    • A total of 11 All-Conference selections in the last three years, including back-to-back-to-
back ASUN Player of the Year Darius McGhee
    • Six wins over Power 5 Schools in past five seasons, eight wins over Power Five schools (nine over high-major foes including the Villanova NIT win in 2023) in Coach McKay’s tenure as head coach
    • Finished No. 46 in the NCAA Men’s Basketball NET Rankings and No. 48 in KenPom
    (2022-23 season)

FAU head coach Dusty May led the Owls to a historic 35-win season which culminated in a Final Four berth. The Owls will return a majority of their team from a year ago are ranked No. 5 in Stadium Preseason Top 25.

In his second year at the helm, Pat Kelsey led Charleston to a 31-4 season and a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
