Facilities: Williams Football Operations Center, complete with coaches offices, academic rooms, a locker room, equipment room and training room, is located at the north end of the stadium. The Williams Stadium Tower, complete with 18 luxury suites and a media center, is located above the west bleachers. Visiting teams are provided a team room in the stadium’s south end zone.
Playing Surface: AstroTurf – The end zones are red with a white line bordering the field and the school’s logo is displayed in color in the middle of the field.
Williams Stadium Timeline
May 8, 1989 – Ground was broken for Williams Stadium.
Oct. 21, 1989 – The first game was played at Williams Stadium, and 12,750 fans watched Liberty score 31 unanswered points in a 37-18 Homecoming victory over Towson.
Summer of 1990 – Lights were added at Williams Stadium.
1994 – The stadium was officially named “Williams Stadium,” in honor of A.L. Williams, a major contributor to the University.
Fall of 2006 – The state-of-the-art 48,000-square foot Williams Football Operations Center was completed at the north end of Williams Stadium.
Nov. 4, 2006 – Liberty passed the 1,000,000 mark in home attendance since the inception of the program, during its 21-0 win over Western Carolina at Williams Stadium.
Summer of 2010 – Williams Stadium was expanded from 12,000 to 19,200 seats and a five-story tower was completed. The tower features a fully functional press box, 18 luxury suites, an 11,000-square foot Williams Stadium Club Pavilion, offices for the Liberty athletics administration and concession stands.

Oct. 2, 2010 – A then Liberty and Big South-record 19,314 fans attended the first game at the renovated Williams Stadium, a 52-14 victory over Savannah State.
